Quantum Computer

Quantum computers are a new technology that uses quantum mechanics principles to solve problems that even the most powerful classical computers cannot handle.

Traditional computers rely on bits that can be either 0 or 1. However, quantum computers use qubits, which may be either 0 or 1 at the same time (superposition).

Qubits can be connected such that their futures are interconnected, even across long distances. This “entanglement” permits efficient parallel processing.

Potential applications for quantum computers include drug development and materials science simulations, financial modeling and risk management,

code-breaking and cryptography, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Although quantum parallelism and algorithms allow exponential speedup for particular tasks, quantum computers are still in the early phases of research.
