ソルとも

Sharp launched”ソルとも” an IoT service that predicts daily salt consumption based on the use of spices such as table salt and soy sauce. Demonstration tests are underway with the goal of using it as a dietary treatment for high blood pressure by the end of 2025.

This service measures seasoning containers and the trays beneath them and uses customized software to visualize salt intake. It was created in collaboration with a container making company Toyo Seikan Group Holdings (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) and nutrition management software provider Oishii Kenkou-sha (Chuo-ku, Tokyo). There are two types of dedicated containers (devices): one that dispenses a fixed amount (0.3g) of granular seasoning with a single push and records the amount used based on how many times it is used, and another that records the amount used based on the weight difference when liquid seasoning is added.

The device will be connected to smartphone via Bluetooth. Users may monitor their sodium intake using the specialized app, as well as use recipes sent to the app by certified dietitians to assist them reduce their salt consumption. The recipes in the app are stated in push numbers rather than grams, making it simple for anybody to select a flavor. It is a good initiative to the practical application of IT for the betterment of our life and health.  The developer are very hopeful that this will help the user to reduce the amount of taking salt daily.
